Sariel

The Endless

Sariel turns part of damage into Grey Health that can be recovered by attacking, while Curse creates conditional protection against a future melee strike. Exodus of Thorns applies Curse but also inflicts Pain on Sariel, and Purge can turn part of an incoming hit into another recovery window. He suits experienced players who can attack decisively without taking a second hit before that recoverable health is restored.

Sariel Overview

Exodus of Thorns sends parasitic thorns toward nearby enemies, building Curse while adding Pain to Sariel. Sufficient Curse turns the target’s next melee attack against him into a nullified and reflected strike.

Pain converts health into Grey Health. Sariel can win that health back by landing melee attacks, but another hit removes the remaining recovery opportunity. Purge connects incoming damage to the same loop, making his sustain depend on controlled aggression rather than passive defense.

Sariel Abilities

Exodus of Thorns

Active Shell Ability

Sariel releases parasitic thorns that seek nearby enemies and apply Curse. Each activation also inflicts Pain on Sariel.

Gameplay meaning

Start the Curse and recovery loop before committing to melee, then be ready to recover the Grey Health created by Pain.

Curse

Status / Core Mechanic

After enough Curse is applied, the affected target’s next melee attack against Sariel is nullified and reflected.

Gameplay meaning

Curse creates conditional protection from one qualifying melee attack, not general invulnerability.

Pain

Resource / Damage State

Pain converts part of Sariel’s health into Grey Health. Melee attacks can recover it, but another incoming hit removes the remaining Grey Health.

Gameplay meaning

It creates a short recovery window that rewards immediate but controlled aggression.

Purge

Passive Shell Ability

When Sariel has no active Pain, part of incoming damage becomes Pain. At maximum Pain, Sariel dodges faster.

Gameplay meaning

Purge gives a clean incoming hit a recoverable component and links Pain management to mobility.

How to Play Sariel

Use Exodus of Thorns before or at the start of an exchange to apply Curse while accepting that Sariel will gain Pain. Once health becomes Grey Health, land controlled melee attacks to recover it before another enemy strike removes the opportunity.

Continue building Curse until it can nullify and reflect the target’s next melee attack, but do not treat that protection as universal immunity. Purge can create a similar recovery window after a clean incoming hit. Sariel rewards aggression only when you can recognize a safe counter window and reset before the next attack lands.

  1. Exodus or incoming hit
  2. Pain becomes Grey Health
  3. Build Curse protection
  4. Attack to recover Grey Health
  5. Avoid the next hit
  6. Reset the loop

Practical Tips

  • Apply Exodus of Thorns before committing to melee so Curse begins building early.
  • Recover Grey Health with melee attacks as soon as a safe opening appears.
  • Avoid another hit while Pain is active because it removes the remaining Grey Health.
  • Treat Curse as protection from a qualifying next melee attack, not universal immunity.
  • Favor short recovery attacks over long strings that leave Sariel exposed.

Strengths & Trade-offs

Strengths

  • Seeking Curse pressure

Exodus of Thorns applies Curse without requiring Sariel to begin in melee range.

  • Conditional melee counter

Built-up Curse can nullify and reflect a future melee attack.

  • Recoverable damage

Pain gives Sariel an opportunity to win Grey Health back through offense.

  • Aggressive sustain

Purge and Pain reward successful counter-pressure instead of passive retreat.

Trade-offs

  • Self-inflicted Pain

Using Exodus of Thorns advances Sariel’s own recoverable-damage state.

  • Recovery can be lost

A new hit removes Grey Health that has not yet been restored.

  • Safe aggression required

Sariel must attack to recover, but a greedy sequence can erase the recovery window.

Sariel FAQ

Where is Sariel in Mortal Shell II?

Sariel is reached from the Silent Steps Beacon in southeastern Mammon and pursued into the Chamber of Becoming.

How do you unlock Sariel?

Defeat him on the open ledge, reach his retreat threshold inside the Chamber, destroy all four glowing tablets in the final arena, defeat him permanently, and complete his Shell memory.

Why does Sariel keep reviving?

One or more of the four glowing stone tablets in the final arena is still active. Destroy all four before emptying his health bar again.

What does Pain do?

Pain converts health into Grey Health that can be recovered through melee attacks. If Sariel is hit before recovering it, the remaining Grey Health disappears.

What does Curse do?

After enough Curse is applied, the affected target’s next melee attack against Sariel is nullified and reflected.

Is Sariel suited to aggressive gameplay?

Yes, but the aggression must be controlled. Sariel needs to attack during safe windows to recover Pain before another hit removes the recoverable health.
